About CIP

The Community Information Project aimed to bring information on opportunity and activities closer to people's homes and enable more useful referrals when someone discloses a need and support those working on behalf of their community. The project offered an innovative toolkit for mapping and auditing resources and building the capacity for self-help in people and communities. Development of the CIP methodology was been carried out by Nat Bocking of Community Action Suffolk who was initally funded by an innovation grant from Suffolk County Council.

The CIP project ended in October 2013 and unfortunately all of the online demos and maps that were created have since been deleted by Community Action Suffolk.

Over 125 people took a resource mapping workshop during the project.

I am interested to hear from anyone who recognises there is potential in this method of resource mapping to empower communities and community organisers.
